Sea Buckthorn Seeds (hippophae rhamnoides)
Price for Package of 4 or 10 seeds.
Sea buckthorn is found throughout Europe and Asia, particularly eastern Europe and central Asia. The plant's orange fruit and the oil from its pulp and seeds have been used traditionally for skin conditions, coughing, phlegm reduction, and digestive disorders, internal use of sea buckthorn is recommended as a pain reliever, cough suppressant, expectorant, digestive tonic, and blood flow promoter.
This large shrub, eventually growing into a small shapely tree, is widely distributed in the wild and planted on a large scale in seaside areas as windbreaks and screens. It is naturally adapted to light dry sandy soils, but will tolerate a wider range of conditions, including very exposed windy sites. The male and female flowers are borne on different plants, and several need planting in a group to be sure of a prolific display of the golden orange berries which crowd the stems in autumn, revealed when the silvery grey-green foliage falls.
